Treasure hunting in Special Collections

Dr Elizabeth Casson opened the first School of Occupational Therapy in 1930, which joined Oxford Brookes University in 1992. Dr Casson was awarded a gold Gaskell Medal in 1927 for scholarship in clinical psychiatry. The medal was donated to the University by a member of Dr Casson’s family and complements the Dorset House Archive, which records the history of the School.

Student is named National Freediving Champion

Oxford Brookes student Alice Hickson has been named National Freediving Champion after competing in the national championships in Manchester this weekend. Alice, who is studying Occupational Therapy, took the top spot scoring 163 points after swimming 130 metres underwater and holding her breath for an incredible 6 minutes and 33 seconds. She took the lead by 75 points overall.

CLEAR Unit at Oxford Brookes received a generous donation from international rugby player Mike Brown

Recently, the CLEAR Unit at Oxford Brookes received a generous donation from international rugby player Mike Brown (Harlequins and England). Mike, in his role as Special Ambassador for the CLEAR Trust during the 2015/16 season, raised the money by placing some of his old England training kit up for auction.
